Details:
All new Chase Bays Power Steering Kit for 92-95 Honda Civic and 94-01 Acura Integra is designed to adapt for K swap, eliminate common factory power steering leaks, fluid spillover, & overheating issues w/ improved aesthetics, durability, & design. It is a full 100% upgraded A.N. Hose and Fitting replacement of the stock reservoir and hoses. From the reservoir to pump to rack (and cooler if upgraded). ALL Hose and Hose Ends are BMRS aka Brown and Miller Racing. This is the best Hose/Hose Ends in the world, the same components seen on NASCAR and Indy Car. All the Fitting Adapters are designed and manufactured by Chase Bays to be chassis specific for perfect leak free installs.
Our over-engineered Triple-Baffled Power Steering Reservoir (aeration & spillover proof) is at core of this kit. It optionally comes w/ upgraded Chase Bays Fluid Cooler that uses our bracket to mount on the lower core support for additional airflow. Our reservoir is constructed of 6061 aluminum & is anodized black w/ laser etched cap. Reservoir itself uses our aluminum bracket & can be mounted in stock location.
Triple Baffled Power Steering Reservoir
Countless hours of research & development were put into our PS Reservoir. This isn’t as simple as putting 2 fittings on a fluid container & calling it a day. It's far more complex. Smaller fitting on Reservoir is fluid return from the rack. It can be sent back at pressures up to 120psi. When that hits fluid in the reservoir it can cause extreme foaming aeration if not properly slowed down & directed. More the steering & RPM on the car, higher the pressures will be. This is what commonly causes spillover. Most people think PS fluid is boiling over, but in most cases it's just turbulence.
We've put serious engineering time into internal design to negate aeration & spillover. The performance of this PS Reservoir has rave reviews from our customers. In the photos you can see a "chimney" inside, there's a multi-layer design within chimney. We can't give away all our secrets, but just know you won't have any aeration or spillover. B/W on track testing & computer fluid dynamics, we're able to slow down 120psi to 12psi in 2" of fluid motion. That's just 2 of the baffles, it doesn’t end there.
Power Steering is loop hydraulic system, it needs to be vented. The cap has unique baffle design to block fluid from pushing out of vent. Go to any road race/drift/rally event & look at all factory (most aftermarket) PS reservoirs. By end of the day there's spillover around reservoirs. It was our goal to be the 1 in 100 reservoirs to have no spillover. We're proud to say; that goal has been met.
COLD FILL POINT: Halfway filled up on reservoir.
Reservoir Mounting
The Reservoir mounts to an existing hole just in front of the LHD passenger side engine mount
Hoses & Adapters
High-pressure rack to pump hose is -6AN stainless steel, Teflon PTFE lined & black Hytrel coated. This coating makes hose resistant to chaffing if it routes against metal or a fellow hose. The -6AN rack to reservoir & -10AN reservoir to pump hoses are abrasion resistant, black poly sheathed & PTFE inner. They are completed with high end black aluminum BMRS AN fittings & Metric to AN adapters for rack & pump conversion to AN.
Chase Bays Heatsink Fluid Cooler
Our optional inline heatsink cooler is all aluminum in construction. It is black anodized for a durable and stealthy finish. Very compact but very effective. We’ve seen 20º degree F drops in temperature from this cooler. If you have a track car, get the cooler. They need the additional volume and cooling power.
Three Port 92-95 Civic Steering Rack
If you have a three port rack, we do not make a solution, and you need to buy a 94-01 Integra power steering rack that's $200 USD or less. As rare as this rack is we do run into it sometimes for the EJ / EG chassis that came with Power Steering. These have a third port that makes for two high pressure side inlets. We looked into designing a solution and with as expensive as the high pressure side hoses are, the solution would have added $200 to the sales price of the kit. With the design itself being far less effective as the 94-01 Integra two port rack that you can get for less than $200 remanufactured by reliable suppliers, we felt it was best to not move forward.
